A despeito de minha antipatia a esses autores da dita fantasia, seja filme, seja livro, seja o que seja, reconheço que o J. R.R. Tolkien (sempre acho que omiti dois ou três erres do nome dele) luziu neste trecho duma carta ao neto, Michael George, datada de 24 de abril de 1957:

«[𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙱𝚘𝚘𝚔 𝚘𝚏] Jonah you’ll find that the ‘whale’ – it is not really said to be a whale, but a big fish – is quite unimportant. The real point is that God is much more merciful than ‘prophets’, is easily moved by penitence, and won’t be dictated to even by high ecclesiastics whom he has himself appointed.»
